Assistive Technology

DeafHearDeaftech is DeafHear's specialist assistive technology service for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. Assistive technology can benefit Deaf and Hard of Hearing people greatly in their day-to-day lives by helping them overcome everyday difficulties arising from their hearing loss. For example, Deaftech, through our national network of Resource Centres, provides a variety of assistive technology such as vibrating alarm clocks, TV listening devices, flashing doorbells and personal communication devices.
Safety equipment such as fire and emergency alarms and technology designed for the workplace are also available.

For more information on the range of products available call in to your local DeafHear Resource Centre or visit our online shop. Deaftech can supply certain health and safety equipment free to those eligible under HSE schemes. Please contact your local DeafHear Resource Centre for more information.

Deaftech also provides a range of helpful factsheets, available on our Factsheets page, with useful descriptions of assistive technology available.

DeafHearMedical Card Holders

Persons with a medical card may be eligible to receive required assistive technology free under the HSE scheme.

Employment

Employers can avail of grants from FáS to help make their workplace safe and accessible for their Deaf employees. Click here for further information.

Architects/Building Managers/Service Providers

Deaftech can advise on making buildings and services accessible for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in compliance with Part M of the Building Regulations, the Equal Status Act and the Disability Act.
