DeafHear’s online Social Welfare information in Irish Sign Language (ISL) and text in partnership with the Department of Social Protection.

In June 2011 launched Ireland’s first Social Welfare Information Service available through Irish Sign Language (ISL): Called “Money Matters”, the service is available in sign language and text via DeafHear’s website at
The initiative was part funded by a grant from the Department of Social Protection.

Money Matters provides online Irish Sign Language (ISL) information on a number of common social welfare and HSE allowances relevant to the Deaf community. To connect to Money Matters go to and click on the Money Matters logo.

This comprehensive online information service was developed by the staff of DeafHear who have an extensive knowledge and experience of supporting Deaf clients in accessing rights and entitlements.

This site is currently being updated to reflect recent changes in social welfare benefits.
