New Disability Inclusion Strategy

Uploaded: 12th November 2015

The Department of Justice and Equality is developing a new Disability Inclusion Strategy. Building on the first phase of this consultation process – which identified key themes for the new Strategy – the Department is now inviting views on a set of suggested objectives under the different themes such as education and employment. The Department would now like to consult with people with disabilities and their families on these suggested objectives to get their views on:

  • Any additional objectives to be included
  • Any proposed changes to the current objectives
  • Any objectives that should be removed
  • Which objectives should be prioritised

Consultation meetings

To hear the views of people with disabilities and their families the National Disability Authority is organising a series of regional consultation meetings on behalf of the Department. This is an important opportunity for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people and their families to have their say on the issues that affect them. The venues and dates for the consultation meetings are as follows:

  • Tuesday, 24th Nov 2015
Imperial Hotel, Cork city (from 10.30am to 1.30pm)

  • Thursday, 26th Nov 2015
Croke Park Stadium, Dublin (from 10am to 1pm)

  • Wednesday, 2nd Dec 2015
Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore (from 10am to 1pm)

It is important that as many Deaf and Hard of Hearing people and parents of children as possible participate in this consultation. If you need any assistance to register or make an online submission, please contact your local DeafHear Resource Centre.
