Closing date is Monday 9th May.

DeafHear Small Talk/Chit Chat programme.

DeafHear and ONE are delighted to announce that there will be workshops for parents and their extended family on the Small Talk/Chit Chat programme. The workshops will take place in May in Dublin and Portlaoise.

Small Talk has been designed for use with families of babies whose hearing loss is detected within the first few months of life. While Chit Chat focusses on everyday parent–child conversations and the strategies parents/families can use to help the child’s developing spoken language communication skills.

Through the support of experienced professionals we hope that the Chit Chat package will help parents/families to recognise the many enjoyable opportunities for language development that arise in everyday situations and to understand the strategies they can use to include their child in everyday conversations.

This workshop provides an opportunity for parents/families to gain skills in communicating with the child with a hearing loss.

The workshops will be delivered by Suzanne Harrigan, Speech and Language Therapist from the Ear Foundation, Nottingham, UK.
