Posted: 18th April 2016

‘Art Beyond Silence’ is the title of a painting exhibition by members of the DeafHear Hard of Hearing Group in Sligo. This is a joint venture between DeafHear and Mayo Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB), and is incorporated in the Bealtaine Festival, which celebrates creativity in people as we age.

The exhibition was opened by Mr Damien Brennan, past president of Yeats Society, in the MSLETB Centre, Quay Street, Sligo on Friday May 13th. The Hard of Hearing Group has been working together since last October under the tuition of Eamonn Dowdican, who is a well known artist in the Sligo area.

A total of 12 budding artists have paintings on display. They are delighted with their work, but also with the new friends and camaradie they have experienced through their membership of the Hard of Hearing Group.

The exhibition will remain open at the MSLETB Centre, (formally VEC Office) Quay Street Sligo, until the end of May.

Please feel free to visit. As you can see below, the paintings are well worth viewing!
