Introducing DeafHear’s new Chief Executive Officer

DeafHear is delighted to announce the appointment of our new Chief Executive, Mark Byrne. Mark took up his post in recent weeks and replaces our previous CEO Niall Keane, who had 29 years of distinguished service with the organisation.

Mark brings with him an extensive range of skills and experience from both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. Mark is a qualified accountant by profession, and having completed his training with KPMG, moved to general industry.

He held a number of finance and non-finance roles mainly in the retail and telecommunications sectors and worked for some well–known brands, including C&C and O2. Before joining DeafHear he spent seven years on the management team of Focus Ireland, including two years as Acting Chief Executive.

Since taking up his new post with DeafHear Mark has begun familiarising himself with the organisation and the wider sector . He has been to visit all of our resource centres and teams around the country, and has been busy meeting various key stakeholders involved in supporting and collaborating with DeafHear.

Mark said ‘I am delighted to be on board as the new Chief Executive of such an excellent organisation as DeafHear. I’ve already seen first–hand the passion and dedication of our staff. I hope that we can continue to be a vibrant and relevant organisation assisting with and advocating for those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing towards full, integrated lives in our society’.
