Summer days and Family Fun in Kerry!
Posted: 22nd July 2016
For our first summer gathering of the Kerry Families Group we spent the day in Coolwood Park, Killarney.
What a beautiful day!
We had a fantastic guide, Sarah, who told us all about the lemurs and meerkats we met along the way. And all the kids enjoyed playing with the puppies and the goats that came to meet us. We even spotted a couple of very cute prairie dogs! Our picnic lunch gave Mums and Dads the time to mingle and chat, catching up on the progress of the kids and how they were all doing.
Meanwhile the kids got on with the serious business of having fun, enjoying the chance to strike up new friendships and reignite old ones. Some of them had recently got their second Cochlear Implant and others were keen to show off their new hearing aids.
The chance to meet with other kids using ISL or who use hearing technology is an important part of these days. For so many of our kids they don?t often have the chance to meet another with hearing aids, BAHAs or CI’s and this can sometimes make them feel different to their friends in school. At our gatherings they have the opportunity to meet others just the same as themselves, and they so obviously love it!
More fun planned for next week, when get the chance to meet up again as we are all off to Oceanworld in Dingle. We can’t wait!
