Important Survey for Parents!

Your chance to say what you and your child need.

Posted: 18th August 2018 Important survey for parents. In 2017 the HSE set up a Working Group to develop a more seamless care pathway for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) children with a permanent hearing loss. The Working Group has representatives from parent organisations, service providers including DeafHear, as well as various health and education professionals working with DHH children.

The Working Group now want to get the views of parents and guardians of DHH children to help inform this work. The Working Group is interested in finding out what is working well, what is not working well, and any gaps in services or concerns that parents may have about their child's care and development. The questions in the survey are based on issues raised by the parent organisations and on topics included in similar surveys in other countries.

Any parent or guardian of a child diagnosed with a permanent hearing loss is invited to complete the survey. Your child may be aged 18 or under, or aged over 18 if still in full-time education.

The survey is entirely voluntary and completely confidential. The results will be analysed by researchers from the Centre for Deaf Studies in Trinity College Dublin and will be made publicly available in due course.

If you are a Deaf parent of a DHH child and would like to complete the survey in ISL, please contact one of the following organisations: DeafHear, Cork Deaf Association, Sharing the Journey, Irish Deaf Society.
