Kerry Deaf Group Arts and Crafts classes

DeafHear

The Kerry Deaf Group has begun a series of Arts and Crafts classes which are taught by David Lyne who is a member of the group. These classes are run in Killarney DeafHear Resource centre once a week. The classes are run through ISL and are therefore fully accessible to all the members.

David began by teaching the group how to use wooden clothes pegs to create wonderful designs and the following week he taught them to decorate plain wooden frames with shells and colourful stones. The results were beautiful and everyone was delighted to take their finished product home so that they could insert a photo of a loved one into their masterpiece!Top

The class has now progressed to decorating bottles with shells and coloured beads and stones. This is a much more complicated craft and requires a lot of patience. It is hoped that each person will have made their own lamp which they can then use in their homes.Top

All the participants are delighted with the classes and enjoy the social occasion as well as learning a new skill. Top
