Emergency SMS Registration


Limerick 112 SMS Registration and Information Meeting to be held on Friday 5th October from 10am to 12pm in, 1st Floor, 4 Henry Street, Limerick. Interpreter provided if required. To confirm your attendance please contact Kathleen on 086 8112513.

112 SMS service lets deaf, hard of hearing and speech–impaired people in the Republic of Ireland send an SMS text message to the Emergency Call Answering Service where it will be passed to:

  • An Garda Sìochána,

  • The Ambulance service,

  • The Fire service,

  • The Irish Coastguard.

The operator will act as a relay between the texter and the needs of emergency service.
The Pilot 112 SMS will run for a period of 6 months, after that it will be decided if the services is still go ahead or not, this is why everyone needs to register!

Before you can use the 112 SMS service, you will need to register your mobile phone.
Remember that this is an Emergency Service and should only be used in an emergency.
